The Room - 8
There's lots of interesting installations in this room! The furniture and attention to detail is quite immersive as you do feel transported to a quirky English mansion.
The Story - 8
If you've watched at least one season of Sherlock or have read the stories, the themes may be more compelling. That said, there are inconsistencies in the premise (Sherlock is building a series of challenges in Moriarity's mansion? There's a murder? What's happening again?) and some puzzles don't seem too relevant to the narrative.
The Puzzles - 7.5
The puzzles in here were fun and tactile; honestly, the room felt like a mash-up of "greatest-hit" puzzles from other rooms. Some of the puzzles do require a pinch of outside knowledge (i.e. pop culture) as well as a better-than-average grasp of English - which we're never the biggest fan of as it could be disadvantageous to others. Overall though, the puzzles were satisfying and required a good amount of team cooperation.
The Verdict - 8
This was a great room chocked full of puzzles and it felt like a great intro room for folks just getting aboard the Escape train. We went off of the coveted spreadsheet and agree that of the rooms in San Diego, this one along with MindFox's Black & White room are worth visiting.
We also want to give the folks at MindFox some extra love for being some of the most wholesome and accommodating GM's we've encountered so far! The whole staff claps when you escape and even give snacks! It also seems like most of the staff also had a hand (?) in creating the games and they engaged with us passionately about other escapes in the area. Definitely go out and support them if you're in town!
